Welcome to Balean.net - Silver Family Name

The name, Silver, may derive from a trade.  We know that James and his uncle were blacksmiths.  It is not unlikely then that this was a common profession among the Silver ancestors, nor that at some point they were descended from a silversmith.

JAMES SILVER was born in 1857 at Wallingford in Berkshire.  By the time he was 15 he was working as a blacksmith with his uncle, Edward Silver, in Wargrave, Berkshire.  He married ALICE BURRITT, a school governess, who was born in London in 1860.  They had four children, Arthur, Mildred, Margaret and Ruby.
